Welcome to Arabella Design Studio's Photography Summer Camp! This immersive experience, set against the picturesque backdrop of Eliot, Maine, offers budding photographers aged 8-12 an opportunity to explore the world of photography in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
Dates and Schedule: Arabella Design Studio's Photography Summer Camp offers two sessions to accommodate different schedules. The first session runs from August 5th to 8th, 2024, while the second session takes place from August 12th to 15th, 2024. Both sessions start at 9:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm daily, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience for all participants.
Course Curriculum: Led by Meghan Mongroo, founder of Arabella Design Studio and a seasoned educator, the camp curriculum is designed to introduce campers to the fundamentals of digital photography while fostering their creativity and passion for the art form. Throughout the camp, participants will:
Dive into the history of photography, discovering iconic images and understanding the evolution of the medium.
Learn the basics of digital photography, including camera functions, settings, and techniques.
Explore the principles of composition, framing, and perspective to capture compelling images.
Gain hands-on experience with digital cameras, studio lighting equipment, and editing software.
Experiment with different types of photography, from portrait to landscape, still life to action shots.
Develop their own unique photographic style and artistic vision.
Prepare and present their work in a culminating gallery show on the final day of the session.
Outdoor Exploration: Nestled along the banks of the Piscatiqua River and surrounded by 30 acres of lush forest, fields, and a tidal pond, Arabella Design Studio provides an idyllic setting for outdoor exploration. Campers will have the opportunity to venture into nature daily, capturing the beauty of Southern Maine's landscapes, flora, fauna, and wildlife through their lenses. Outdoor sessions will inspire creativity, observation, and appreciation for the natural world.
Camp Amenities: Arabella Design Studio is fully equipped to support campers throughout their photographic journey. All necessary camera equipment, including digital cameras and studio lighting, will be provided. Additionally, the studio offers comfortable indoor spaces for workshops and editing sessions, as well as outdoor areas for photography exercises and recreational activities.
What to Bring: Campers are advised to come prepared for a day of learning, exploration, and fun. Essential items to bring include:
Outdoor clothing, hat, and sturdy footwear for outdoor activities.
Sunscreen and bug spray to stay protected during outdoor sessions.
A refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
A nutritious snack and packed lunch to fuel their creative endeavors.
A bathing suit and towel for water play days, where campers can cool off and unwind.
